Opening Thoughts

Reading just a little of this guy Johann Gustav Droysen leaves me a bit conflicted, but I still two of his statements of note:

"The interpretation of the ideas fills the gap left by the psychological interpretation."
"Our interpretation intends to enliven and analyzer these dry, lifeless materials in the hopes of returning them to life and allowing them to speak again through the art of interpretation."

I think of these mainly because while pushing this book around on my bookshelf a few photos fell- while only one of significance. An old photo of me in highschool, as a sophmore. I don't rememeber the restaurant and only two of the people within the photo besides myself- Olivia and Justine. But just yesterday I embarked on what has become the traditional collegiate keith quest to recover the past. I find it interesting that I set christmas break as the time to do such things, but it does make me think a bit on how we keep our personal histories. If there is even a stable idea of personal history- we seem to recreate ourselves, in in the act of remembering the past.

But enough on that- though I do think you should re-read those selections they are very provocative statements. But what is Keith up today:

b1c. and then to mix it up a bit, a mix of Neutral Milk Hotel created by yours truly
c. cleaned some more
d. pet the dogs
e. did some WASH stuff with the Zirp. Which allowed us some time to catch up which is always nicec. And we are going to finally get our act together on decoration- mirrors was Chris' excellent contribution. If any of you have other ideas how we can enliven our livingroom please feel free to respond
e. clean some more
f. some reading
g. setting up blog stuff
h. etc., etc.

Tonight will be a mini-High School Reunion of sorts. Lizzy Dere's b-day was a week ago (I should get a card- good call). Celebrating at Silverado's, it will be a joy.

I will now close, seeing as this opening really is rambling. I do wonder though, once you break through psychological intrepretation can you ever regain it or properly supplment it? It seems there is a clear dividing line between critical intrepretation and psycholigical. but whatever, I haven't thought about it enough. You should all eat cake.
